Founded in 1997when the first series of crafts classes was launchedNHFS has been growing in size and dimension over the past 10 years, and now offers literally hundreds of classes year-round, from Antler Basketry to Wooden Bowl Turning.
With help from the City of Grand Marais, the surrounding community, and the support of The McKnight Foundation, North House Folk School functions as a true community cultural center, and adds a unique dimension to an already artistically focused community. NHFS is dedicated to enriching lives and building community and has become a cultural and economic engine on the north shore.
