Initiative Foundation
Serving Central Minnesota, the Initiative Foundation focuses on economic development and community, organizational, and environmental planning. The foundation's flagship initiative, the Healthy Communities Partnership, helps communities develop citizen-based comprehensive plans that will serve as their blueprints for future success. Since the partnership began in 1997, more than 40 of Central Minnesota's 160 communities have participated. The Nisswa Navigators, a community partnership team that focuses on land use, park, and open space issues, was honored by the American Planning Association with the State Award for Outstanding Citizen Planning.
