We use our resources to foster women's social and economic empowerment in Tanzania and Uganda.
Note: In 2007 and 2008, McKnight will review our program in Uganda and Tanzania. Effective immediately and throughout the review, we will not accept new letters of inquiry; we will, however, maintain ongoing commitments to existing grantees in both countries. Please visit this website in spring 2009 for the latest program developments.

McKnight's Africa Grants Program seeks to increase women's access to skills and economic opportunities that will help them gain greater control over their lives. In addition, the program tries to help women participate more fully in their households and communities as equal decision-makers. In 2006, our Africa program awarded about US $1.4 million to projects that support this goal.
