Early Childhood Initiative
In 2000, we helped create a nonprofit-Ready 4 K-to lead the development of a statewide grassroots campaign on behalf of young children. The ultimate aim was to encourage policy changes at state and local levels that would ensure that all Minnesota's young children receive the kind of pre-school care and education that prepares them for success in school and in later life.
Over the past few years, Ready 4 K and McKnight have been joined by some influential partners interested in promoting the early education and well-being of our youngest children-the University of Minnesota, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Minnesota Initiative Foundations, and the business community, among others. Together, this partnership has begun to shift more public attention to the needs of very young Minnesotans and our collective obligation to give them the best possible start in life.
