Smart Growth Organizing Project
In 2001, we gathered all the key stakeholders around the issues affecting balanced growth in the Twin Cities region-housing, transportation, open space protection, and growth management-and asked them to think about ways to work together more effectively.
What emerged was the idea of not only a partnership, but an entity to steer the partnership's objectives-the Smart Growth Organizing Project, which now resides within the Alliance for Metropolitan Stability. The project focuses on researching and promoting policy changes at the state and regional levels that encourage more livable communities and more compact development patterns.
