At first glance, Diane Kinney and Gino Nelson have very little in common.

Kinney is a single Army veteran and one-time chaplain who grew up in bucolic Hudson, Wis. Nelson, now of Lakeville but a native of the Bronx, N.Y., is a streetwise father of four who played college football and lost his oldest brother to a drug overdose decades ago.

Of course, there is more to them than that. But they do share one admirable trait: They have been, until now, unsung folks dedicated to helping others...
