Mobilizing to Close Loopholes that Leave Minnesota Streams Unprotected

The Environmental America Research and Policy Center works to educate the public and win tangible results for clean water through their research and advocacy work.

A diverse array of people and organizations across Minnesota have joined Environment America in advocating for clean water, including over 40 local elected officials, 35 local small business owners, and more than 30 other groups each with a stake in clean water.

Loopholes in the Clean Water Act leave more than 50% of streams in Minnesota unprotected. In 2015, the EPA proposed a Clean Water Rule that would close those loopholes and help make sure that Minnesota’s lakes — and the drinking water of more than 970,000 Minnesotans — are once again fully protected under the Clean Water Act. Environment America and Environment Minnesota’s Clean Water campaign is working in Minnesota to build the grassroots power we need to support the Clean Water Rule.

A diverse array of people and organizations across Minnesota have joined Environment America in advocating for clean water, including over 40 local elected officials, 35 local small business owners, and more than 30 other groups each with a stake in clean water. Coalition partners have helped them publish letters to the editors in local paper, generate dozens of phone calls into lawmakers, and publicize the issue over social media.
