Rochester volunteer wins state service award
September 10, 2014
Rachel Leingang, Rochester Post-Bulletin. Melissa Eagle Uhlmann really didn't need an award. The longtime Rochester volunteer and registered nurse said she's happy just to help people and hear their stories, but she has big plans to spread the wealth that comes with some recent recognition.
Uhlmann was given the Virginia McKnight Binger award for human service from the McKnight Foundation today, which comes with a $10,000 prize. True to form, Uhlmann, who volunteers at the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association, will be giving a lot of the money back to the community.
