Dulce Monterrubio joined McKnight in December 2023 as a program and grants associate for grants and program operations, the team that provides the grantmaking and program operations structure, resources, and expertise needed to advance overall program results. In this role, Dulce supports all aspects of the grantmaking process for Arts & Culture program grantee partners. She is excited to apply her more than 20 years of professional experience and skills in relationship building, project management, and intercultural communications to support the creativity, power, and leadership of Minnesota working artists and culture bearers.

Most recently, Dulce was the operations manager of emergency grants at Unidos MN, where she developed innovative processes for the disbursement, auditing, and reporting of $1.5 million dollars in direct grants for a diverse cohort of immigrant food system workers impacted by COVID-19 statewide. Prior to that she was the founder and CEO of Dulceria Bakery, crafting a wide range of beautiful Mexican pastries representative of the diversity of experiences and identities within the Mexican Community.

More than just a bakery, Dulce established and nurtured relationships with staff, purveyors, customers, community organizations, and fellow entrepreneurs through partnerships for cultural events, collective healing, and community building. Before Dulceria, she spent 13 years developing anti-racist initiatives to support equitable educational experiences for BIPOC, immigrant, and first-generation college students at Augsburg University, from engaging students and their families to facilitate culturally adept financial aid workshops to directing student support services for Latinx, economically disadvantaged, and undocumented students.

Dulce has a bachelor of arts in international relations from Augsburg University. Originally from Mexico City, Dulce has been nurturing a sense of home and comunidad in Minneapolis for 23 years. She enjoys travel, reading, and supporting BIPOC-led art events, maker’s markets, and businesses.
