Karyn Sciortino Johnson joined McKnight in 2002. She is currently the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging manager, responsible for designing and managing enterprise-level diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategies and initiatives to support the Foundation’s goals and values and ensuring integration and alignment across the Foundation.

Karyn believes that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is a tool for using our individual and collective power to create the conditions that enable more people to be their creative, brilliant selves. She cares deeply about individual and communal formation and is committed to creating inclusive and equitable environments.

Auparavant, Karyn était coach et consultante en développement organisationnel dans les secteurs philanthropique, confessionnel et à but non lucratif. Plus tôt dans sa carrière, elle a coordonné des programmes d'octroi de subventions en Asie du Sud-Est, en Afrique de l'Est et dans les villes jumelles, offrant aux personnes et aux communautés des opportunités d'accéder aux ressources dont elles ont besoin pour prospérer.

Karyn has a master of divinity degree from Bethel Seminary and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Minnesota. Her other studies include advanced diversity and inclusion at the ILR School of Cornell University, organizational development at the University of Minnesota, and nonprofit management at the University of St. Thomas. Karyn is also a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis and Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research. Karyn was born in Seoul, South Korea, grew up in Southern California, and now resides in Minnesota with her family.
