Kimberly (Kim) Anderson joined McKnight in February 2021 as a human resources generalist, and in July 2022, was promoted to compensation and benefits manager. Kim supports staff members in their employment life cycle from recruitment to retirement, and provides guidance on payroll administration, benefits, recruitment, and onboarding. During her tenure, Kim has been responsible for payroll, and has supported in a variety of functions including supporting the performance management process, participating in request for proposals and implementing the Foundation’s new payroll system, and drafting a new onboarding program.
Kim has dedicated her 25-year career to engaging with and supporting employees and managers to meet their fullest potential. Prior to McKnight, she worked primarily in nonprofit and academic organizations, including the Science Museum of Minnesota and Mitchell Hamline Law School, and spent nine years in the corporate world at Katun Corporation and RBC Dain Rauscher. At Katun, she implemented a global human resources information system and a payroll system for 300 international employees. During her 10 years at the Science Museum, Kim and her team supported 700 employees and 1,200 volunteers in promoting the museum’s mission of “turning on the science” for all visitors.
Kim holds a master’s degree in human resources and organizational management. She is an avid walker and enjoys watching the sunrise on her morning walks. She lives in Shakopee with her husband, Doug, and their two dogs, Harley (14) and Lucy (10), and is an almost empty nester, with her youngest of three attending their first year of study at Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
