Program Goal: Prepare Minnesota students to succeed in an increasingly global society by investing in educators, engaging families, and supporting youth.
The McKnight Foundation recognizes education as a key factor in Minnesota’s economic and civic vitality. Accordingly, we strive to close opportunity gaps and promote equitable policies and practices.
Our program strategies aim to influence education systems by targeting the two sets of adults with the most influence over child outcomes: educators and families. Toward our goal, we:
- Build pathways of diverse, effective educators by supporting innovative efforts to prepare, recruit, and retain high-quality talent for Minnesota schools.
- Engage families as the most credible constituency for education systems change by supporting them in advocating for improved school, district, and state policies and practices.
Additionally, McKnight supports Youthprise, which seeks to reduce racial disparities for Minnesota youth. The Foundation no longer accepts requests for funding in our former out-of-school time funding areas. For information about youth-related funding, please visit Youthprise.
Please note: We accept open inquiries for funding related to advancing the education profession or engaging families via our online application. After staff review inquiries, selected organizations will be invited to submit full proposals for funding.
