Program Goal

To improve access to local, sustainable, nutritious food using collaborative research and knowledge-sharing with smallholder farmers, research institutions, and development organizations. We support balanced approaches to natural resource management and community resource rights.

Focus Areas

Southeast Asia. To strengthen local institutions and initiatives in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam that improve livelihoods, through community building and empowerment.

Collaborative Crop Research. To explore solutions for sustainable, local food systems by funding collaborative research between smallholder farmers, leading local researchers, and development practitioners. Proposals accepted only during formal calls.

NOTE: McKnight no longer provides direct grantmaking in Cambodia. We have engaged Southeast Asia Development Program (SADP) as our regional grantmaking partner, providing grant support and technical assistance to organizations operating in Cambodia. For all proposal inquiries, please contact SADP.
